Beans is How x Refettorio Felix

We have some exciting news from Refettorio Felix - we've embarked on a new collaboration with Beans is How, a remarkable initiative dedicated to doubling global consumption of beans and pulses by 2028. To help advance their goal, they are partnered with the United Nations Foundation,Global FoodBanking Network, WWWF UK, Waitrose and John Lewis Partners, and Kraft Heinz Co (to name a few!).

We are all facing simultaneous climate, health and cost-of-living crises. Their global campaign centres on the importance of beans as a simple, affordable solution to financial and environmental challenges. At a grassroots level, Refettorio Felix’s mission has always been to transform surplus food into delicious, nutritious meals for those in need. However, recently the demand for our services has skyrocketed, as we are faced with the question of how to meet service with demand. For all the love and brilliant people who support Refettorio Felix, we remain a charity feeling the cost-of-living squeeze. In London alone, 1 in 5 adults experience food insecurity.

Now, as Refettorio Felix joins Beans is How we hope to shine a light on how beans and pulses can help alleviate these pressures. Gorgeous examples of this can be seen in our kitchen, where Chef Holly has been cooking up some roast chicken with salsa verde, roasted tomato, on a bed of delicious fava bean puree.

Working with Beans is How, we’ll be incorporating a variety of beans into our menus, creating wholesome dishes that delight the palate. We are excited about getting plugged into a network of people fighting hard for our global food security, but most importantly, to learn everything we can from Beans is How and carry this knowledge with us on a daily basis.

We look forward to this journey with Beans is How working together to promote healthy eating and sustainable food practices. Stay tuned for more updates and delicious recipes as we push to get more #beansonthemenu.
