Homelessness
In England, an estimated 282,000 households are classified as homeless or threatened with homelessness. Although we saw a decrease in core homelessness - rough sleeping, sofa surfing, sleeping in cars, etc. during the height of COVID due to emergency accommodations, by 2024 it is predicted to be one-third higher than in 2019. We endeavour to combat homelessness by providing a safe haven for people who lack the comforts of a domestic space, opening not only spaces to relax, but also to shower, wash clothing and store bags. These services are sorely needed by those experiencing housing insecurity.

Food Poverty
Some 8.4 million adults in the UK reported having difficulty affording food or having access to it. With the persistent cost of living crisis, 16% of households have been forced to decrease the quantity or quality of their food to be able to afford other living essentials like energy. At Refettorio Felix, we alleviate some of this stress by offering balanced and nutritious meals to help our guests build the strength to face the adversities of daily life. Alongside meals, we offer nutrition advice to equip our guests with the knowledge to make better food choices, even on a low budget.

Social Inclusion
For marginalised people in our society, there can be many and varied barriers to participating in the world fully. Social isolation is also associated with loneliness, depression and other physical and mental health issues, as well as contributing to the social divisions that exist today. The Centre provides a safe space for people from all different backgrounds of life to connect and build relationships to foster social inclusion in the community. We support people who are experiencing isolation and marginalisation to come into our warm, judgement-free environment and feel part of a community.
